Ravenclaw Subcamp Leader
Hi everyone , I am looking forward to the challenge again of running the Ravenclaw Sub Camp as part of WS 2017. This will be my third WS and my second as a Sub Camp Leader . As a dinosaur in the Scouting Movement for nearly 30 years now ,I joined the Scout movement as a Cub Scout and then moved up through the sections to become a Scout Section Leader in the Surrey and Horsham Districts for some years before taking on the new role as Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts in the Horsham District . ADC for scouts was a very rewarding role for me as I was able to be actively involved with the young people in the troops by organising and running District Activities and Training and was able to support and encourage the young people and Adult Leaders to grow and develop their skills . Being in a position to put back into scouting what I had gained over the years is possibly the most rewarding goal in Scouting . I was also very privileged to be actively involved in the selection process of the young people for the Horsham District for two World Scout Jamborees, supporting the young people in their training and fundraising for a lifetime experience. During this time I also ran a Home Hospitality camp for a group of 22 West Sussex Scouts and 4 Jambore units from Chile who were attending the Jamboree in the UK . A most memorable International experience for all involved. My current role is with the West Sussex County Scout Active Support Unit as Team manager for the (S.E.A.T) team. We provide Practical Adult Leader Training courses in Scouting skills such as backwoods cooking , Pioneering , Survival training and many more, along with running County training courses for the young people. I also run some of the Adult Leader Module Training courses for County . This year I will also be involved in the Adult and Young people Jamboree Selection process for 2019 in America.

Ravenclaw Subcamp Leader
Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m one of the subcamp leaders for Ravenclaw Subcamp. I am a leader in both Guides and Senior Section, and this is my first time as a subcamp leader at an international camp. I’m also Growing Guiding co-ordinator for Sussex Central County. I love international Guiding and for the past two years I’ve been involved in GOLD (Guiding Overseas Linked with Development), and worked with the Latvian Guides and Scouts in 2015, as well as led the trip to Rwanda in 2016. So, I’m really excited to meet lots of new Guiding and Scouting friends for WS2017!

Slytherin Subcamp Leader
I have been in Scouting in Chichester since 2004 when I volunteered for 2 hours a week. I am currently the Scout Leader at 12th Chichester Scout Group where we have a mixed group of 30 Scouts. I help run a number of the District events in Chichester for the Scout Section and am currently also a District Leader and have helped keep the Explorers and Young Leaders going over the past year due to leadership difficulties. I attended WS in both 2008 (the first time for our Group) as “just" a leader and in 2013 as an activity provider running the lego robot session. In 2013 I was selected as Unit Leader to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015, so over the next couple of years spent a lot of time preparing the unit with the other leaders for the adventure that we had. I gave my last talk about the Jamboree in November 2016, so it never really ends. I’m looking forward to the new challenge of being a Sub-Camp Leader at WS.

I joined as a brownie in Somerset and now continue as a Guide leader and also Senior Section leader since I moved to West Sussex just over 16 years ago. My pastimes also involve get involved with backstage theatre work, helping to run the Glastonbury festival fire safety team and doing crafts. All a real mix and just adds to the experiences that I have gained while being in Guiding.
This will be my 3rd WS and second as a sub camp leader having had a great time on Valhalla. Working with Tony, his first as a sub camp leader, a different sub camp team and lessons learnt from last time we plan to really enjoy being the Slytherin house.

I was one of the first Beaver, Cub then Scout in my group when I was younger. After Scouts I moved onto Venture Scouts and then onto Epsom and Ewell Service Team for a short while before moving to West Sussex.
I then got involved with 1st Shipley Scout Group when my daughter started cubs almost 13 years ago, I was vice chairman of group then moved onto assistant scout leader then scout leader.
I attended WS2013 and was on the same sub camp as Lee and she talked me into helping her for WS2017. Not quite sure what I have let myself in for but looking forward to it, lets hope the sun shines all week!

Subcamp Team Representative & Hufflepuff Subcamp Leader
I am an Explorer Scout Leader for Rowfant ESU, in East Grinstead District. I've not stopped scouting since I was a little Beaver Scout, one of my many highlights was getting my Queens Scout Award when I was 17. I have had the privilege of going to two world scout Jamborees, one in the UK in 2007 as International Service Team, and again in 2011, Sweden, as an Assistant Unit Leader for West Sussex Canute. One of my more recent projects was Head of Activities for Sussex100.

This WS will be my second ever WS camp, WS2013 being my first, where I was the Subcamp Leader for Valhalla. I can't wait to get to the camp again, and look forward to seeing a few familiar faces along the way!
As well as being the Sub Camp Leader I also sit on the WS2017 CORE Team as the Sub Camp Team Representative.

Dumbledore's Army Subcamp Leader
I have been a leader in Guiding for the past 21 years both with Guides and Rangers/Senior Section and hold a county role as Duke of Edinburough’s Award Advisor. I especially enjoy the international side of Girlguiding and have taken part in the last 4 WS camps, hosting guides and scouts from Thailand, Italy (twice) , Poland and the Czech Republic. I have also taken Rangers & Senior Section members on International trips to India, Poland, Denmark, Thailand, Jersey and most recently Iceland which have been fantastic opportunities to learn about different cultures and make friends all over the world. At WS2013 I was proud to be one of the sub – camp leaders of the first Explorer & Senior Section sub camp at a WS camp and am really looking forward to leading Dumbledore’s Army with Peter this year!

Hufflepuff Subcamp Leader
Hi, I'm Ellie, and I'm one of the subcamp leaders for the Hufflepuff Subcamp. I've been involved in Guiding since I was 7, having been a Brownie and Guide - and starting as a Young Leader at the same Brownie unit as soon as I was old enough. I've now been at that unit for over 10 years and at the beginning of 2015, I also took over a Rainbow unit.
This is my first WS camp, which I'm really excited about, particularly the challenge of being a subcamp leader!

Dumbledore's Army Subcamp Leader
Hi all. I have been a leader in Scouting for the over 25 years starting with Scouts in Surrey and Berkshire and then the last 10 years in West Sussex, where I am ESL of Matterhorn ESU, East Grinstead District.

This may only be my second WS but I have been involved in many other camps across the country. At WS2013 I was an instructor on the rifle ranges and had a fantastic time meeting some amazing people.

My Scouting highlight, apart from being a Sub Camp leader with Dumbledore’s Army this year, has been to be a leader of the composite Unit 14 ‘Diver-Sea-Tea’, made up of West Sussex, Kent and LaSER Girl Guiding at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan 2015. This was an amazing opportunity for me to meet people from all over the world and to develop myself along with the Unit members in preparation for the trip of a lifetime to Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi City for the jamboree itself.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great WS2017!
